Cut down to zero, one step a week.

Curb starts from the number you use today and lowers it a little every Monday, to zero or to a number you choose. It was built for nicotine pouches and vaping, and it counts anything else the same way.

Today

The first week only watches. You log at your usual number, and that week becomes the starting point. After it, the allowance drops a little every Monday, down to the number you chose or all the way to zero.

The schedule as the app draws it, for 12 pouches a day at 6 mg: to zero in 9 weeks. Solid is walked, dashed is ahead, and the diamond is the strength switch. Yours is drawn from your own numbers.

Every step is small on purpose. The plan takes an equal share off each week, so no single step is large. When a week runs high, Monday offers the same number for one more week instead of the next step down, and a week you have already walked stays walked.

Pouches and vapes have two numbers. How many a day, and how strong each one is. Curb plans both. When the count gets low, the schedule moves you to a lighter strength and gives some of the count back, so the next step stays small.

The strength switch in the same plan. The routine stays the same while the dose drops.

Some days go over. Curb logs the one past the allowance the same way as the ones before it. The day is marked in rust on that week’s stamp, the week still earns its stamp, and the next day starts at the full allowance again. Your days within plan, your stamps and the money you have saved stay as they were.

Week stamps as the app draws them. A week with a day over still earns its stamp.

Someone on a dozen a day logs a dozen times a day, so logging has to cost nothing. There are four ways in, and three of them never open the app.

  1. 1

    In the app

Today shows what is left and a +1 for each habit. Tapped by mistake? Undo it right away, or change it later in History.

  2. 2

    Home Screen widget

Today’s number and a +1, on the Home Screen or the Lock Screen.

  3. 3

    Control Center

A +1 button next to the flashlight and the timer. Swipe down from the corner and tap.

  4. 4

    Siri

Say it with the phone in your pocket.

Give a rough price once. Curb works out what the habit costs a month and a year, then counts what cutting down has saved as the allowance steps down.

The app uses your count and your price. The cost calculator does the same without the app.

Curb counts whatever you can count. Start from one of these, or add something else and say what it is counted in.

What you log stays on your phone. No ads, no tracking. There is no account. The privacy page lists everything the app does send, and what each one never carries.

Questions people ask before they download.

Is Curb a quit app?

The schedule goes to zero if that is the number you choose, one week at a time, without asking you to stop on day one. You can also set a lower number and hold there.

How is it different from other quit apps?

Most quit apps start the clock on a quit day and count the days since. Curb starts from what you use today, the count and the strength, and steps both down on a weekly schedule. There is no quit day to break.

Does it work for vaping?

Yes. Log sessions or puffs, enter the strength in mg/mL, and the schedule steps the count and the strength the same way it does for pouches.

What happens on a day over?

The day counts as a day over. Your weeks, your stamps and your savings stay as they were, and the next day starts at the full allowance. If the whole week ran high, Monday offers the same number for one more week.

Do I need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for. Your log lives in the app’s own database on your phone, and Settings can export it as a file.

What stays free?

Logging, today’s allowance, history, money saved, the widget, Control Center and Siri. The weekly schedule is Curb Pro: $39.99 a year after 14 days free, or $9.99 a month.

Which devices?

iPhone and iPad. There is no Android version yet.

Is this medical advice?

No. Curb describes a method and counts what you log. If you take prescribed medication or have a health condition, talk to your doctor before changing how much you use.

The first week only watches. The first step down lands on a Monday.
